HTx Webinar on Developing prediction models to support healthcare decision making for diabetes: rationale, benefits & progress – 10th March 2022

The Webinar on diabetes entitled “Developing prediction models to support healthcare decision making for diabetes: rationale, benefits & progress” took place on the 10th of March 2022 from 11:00-12:00 CET. This meeting aimed to increase understanding about how outputs from the HTx diabetes case study can improve healthcare decision making and demonstrate their value to HTA agencies. For that, the webinar provided information about the current situation in diabetes prediction modelling and HTA, on how new prediction models could improve the situation and on the recent progress in the development of such models within HTx.

The meeting was hosted by Jamie Elvidge from NICE (UK), who introduced the HTx project and the current challenges for HTA and diabetes. Then, Xinyu Li (Groningen University – The Netherlands) talked about the results regarding the use of risk prediction models in type 2 diabetes decision models. Later on, Marie-Josée Daly (University College London – UK) provided a review of diabetes decision models presented to NICE for HTA decision making. José Tapia Galisteo (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid – Spain) showed the work, developments and results of CS2 in developing novel models to predict the effectiveness of diabetes treatment strategies. Lastly, Junfeng Wang (Utrecht University – The Netherlands) from the WP1 of HTx provided an insight on what can we expect of the next generation of prediction models.

Seventy-eight people, mostly with a background in research and HTA, participated in the webinar. You can watch all the sessions here.
